DIDE IT Documentation (in progress)
These pages are for internal DIDE IT documentation. None of this information is sensitive, it is simply a list of procedures already present in the main ICT help pages but modified to be more useful to DIDE.
Printing
This section describes how to install the mono and colour queues for the managed swipe printers.
Office 365
The features of your Office 365 subscription. Note that all Office 365 services are managed by your Imperial account (username@ic.ac.uk), not your DIDE one.
Wi-Fi
How to access Imperial's Wi-Fi network, whether you are a member of Imperial College (using Imperial-WPA), an academic guest (using EduRoam) or a visitor (using _The Cloud).
VPN access to DIDE
In order to access DIDE resources from anywhere other than our wired internal network, you must be on our VPN.
Disk quotas
All DIDE members have a default personal disk quota. All research groups also have a research group share quota.
Home Drive
Your default home area quota in DIDE is 15GB.
Project Drives
These drives have quotas depending on the project. Normally this is about 50GB but may be much more for the larger groups.
FAQ
- Q. I've run out of disk space, what should I do?
- A. First of all, ensure that you're only storing files relevant to your work at DIDE. If it all is and you're still out of space, talk to your local IT Manager.
- Q. I need a new project share, what should I do?
- A. Email your local IT Manager and explain what you need and why.
- Q. How do I know where I should be storing files?
- A. The official Imperial College London guidance is here: https://www.imperial.ac.uk/admin-services/ict/self-service/connect-communicate/saving-my-files/recommended-options/
Note that here in DIDE we have our own "home" drive (Q:) separate from the Imperial "home" drive (H:). Imperial will be phasing out their H: drive soon after all data is migrated to OneDrive For Business. In their storage matrix replace the H: column with Q: and the "Shared group space" column with our Projects drive to make it apply to DIDE>
