I will update this page once the new options for 2019-2020 are finalised.

As a general guide, our stock hardware is as follows.

HP EliteDesk 800 CMT
16GB RAM (upgradeable to 64GB)
Core i7 CPU (6 core)
512GB SSD
Onboard Intel GPU (other GPUs available in the MiniTower chassis variant).
24" HD Monitor
3 year on-site accidental damage warranty
Stock Laptop (price about £850)
HP EliteBook 840
16GB RAM (upgradeable to 32GB)
Core i7 CPU (6 core)
512GB SSD
Onboard Intel GPU (AMD GPU option available)
14" HD Screen
3 year on-site accidental damage warranty

There are other options for people who need workstations (i.e. your work relies on GPU acceleration or you need more than 64GB RAM) or travel a lot and need an ultra-slim laptop (note that there will be compromises, normally CPU power). We tend to buy custom workstations from Broadberry UK, a local company. We tend to buy ultra-slim laptops from Dell.

What about Apple hardware?

We are permitted to buy Apple hardware again, but not from Apple directly. We must use their authorised academic reseller, Academia UK. Note that Apple hardware is not recommended for use in DIDE, and all support will be "best effort".

Note further that Apple hardware has no on-site support. In the event of a problem which can't be resolved via "best effort" support, you (you, the user) will need to take the device to an Apple Store.
